Not sure why you are asking that question now. I 've met many deaf drag racer drivers since I was a kid back in the '80s. Some of them are "local weekend race warrior" and some are circuit racer in the region. In the pit, if you can communicate with hearing people during inspection time, registeration, other competitors, mechanic touch up, owner, manager and crew if any, then go for it. The only thing I am not sure about is wireless communication between driver and crew chief like in professional racing circuit (F1, NASCAR, RALLY etc). I was part of pit crew for amateur pro stock racing long time ago and it was fun. I guess I lost interest in high speed stuff like drag boat, dirt bike race, etc. If you are good at getting the sponsors to support your racing career, then you are all set to go. Otherwise, you will be paying alot of $$$ for anything associate with racing (car, parts, tools, support equipments, transportation, travel, advertisement, entry fees, etc)
You wore the same Northeastern U shirt in Part I and Part II.
DPN's famous quote is "deaf can do anything except hear" Deaf people have driver's license so I don't see why can't they drive a racing car. The racing car is very loud that hearing racers can't hear, so what's the difference for qualified deaf to be racers?

Well, you got pointed, but, how can deaf heard or get communicate from his/her cheif crew? That is my question, I want to heard your opinion or ideas or something like that.

As for communication with crew chief .. in drag race.. you can't talk because you only have less than 10 seconds to zoom! that's drag race. Of course you can communicate with people before or after drag race and that's where you decide on how to communicate (with 'terp or pen & notepad or guestures). - Mark M
